What should the ideal arrangement of a children's room look like? The answer to this question was sought by Natalia Całus, VOX stylist, who created designs of dream rooms for Ada and Janek. The children are very different and each has many passions, for which suitable space had to be found. Of course, our heroes' mother Kasia Wągrowska, author of the blog Ograniczam Się, also took part in the whole process.

The visualisations of the interiors were created in the free VOXBOX programme, which allows you to make the arrangements yourself. At the same time, anyone who needs support in designing can make an appointment to visit a VOX showroom and arrange any space together with an advisor. Kasia also took advantage of this opportunity. Thanks to the app, she was able to see how her children's rooms would look in reality. She particularly appreciated the virtual walk through the designed interiors even before they were finished, which she went on after putting on the VR glasses.

Arranging children's rooms in a 'recycled house'

This is what Kasia herself says about the new living space. The family moved into a house that was built in the late 1960s, and creating new designs for the children's rooms was one of the most important items on the moving to-do list. During the metamorphosis, the doors were also replaced, giving the whole arrangement a modern feel.

When designing the children's rooms, we remembered to include furniture and accessories that take into account the daily rhythm of the young occupants and help them develop their interests. And there are quite a few of these. Our little heroine is a young artist and nature lover. Her need for contact with live animals is compensated for by her many cuddly toys. Ada loves to draw and is a very creative person, so it was important that the desk at which she would work was large," notes her mother. See the design of Ada's room in VOXBOX.

Janek, on the other hand, is a football fan who loves reading comics in his free time. The basis for creating the design, therefore, was to plan space for storing books. Although the boy is a true minimalist, his room could not lack decorations related to his passions. Janek loves to travel, so we have a globe on which we mark the places we would like to go," explains Kasia. See the design of Janek's room.

Creative and well-organised - a children's room design for a girl

For the design of Ada's room, we chose 4 You furniture, which makes it easy to organise the space and adapts perfectly to the child's needs. In addition to the functional furnishings, we also took care of the accessories necessary for children's activities. The floor was furnished with a natural rug and a soft Saco pouffe, on which the girl can rest after carefree play.

The room could not do without a wide bookcase for Kasia's daughter to display her mascots and other favourite items. Keeping things neat and tidy is made easy by matching boxes in different colours, which also turned out to be a great way to personalise the furniture.

On the other side was a large desk with a built-in organiser and a roomy box with dividers where Ada can store recent work. If she needs more space on the tabletop, she simply flips the toolbox upside down to increase the workspace. Above the desk, we installed a Slot board with wooden shelves and pegs. The accessory will allow the girl to display various trinkets and decorations on the wall.

Another zone is a comfortable space for resting. When creating the design of the first children's room, the VOX expert used an original bed with a canopy and an additional drawer for easy storage of bedding. The built-in frame made it possible to hang a curtain, which helps to demarcate the resting zone and thus promotes tranquillity. A string of colourful Happy Lights completed the cosy arrangement. The bed was created as if Ada had dreamed it up, but never said so out loud. When she saw this bed, she jumped on it and said that it simply couldn't be more beautiful. She feels like a real princess here," says Kasia.

Next to the bed stands a bedside table, which was created by combining two colourful 4 You boxes. The open space allows storage for the books currently being read. The white wall behind Ada's bed was decorated with rounded Soform upholstered panels. The soft surface is ideal as a backrest during evening reading, making family time more enjoyable.

To play, study and rest - arranging a small room for a boy

Arranging Janek's room turned out to be a little more difficult due to the smaller size of the room. As a result, we limited the number of accessories and opted for modular furniture from the Stige collection, which allows for the creation of designs tailored to the limited space. The starting point for the design was the zoning of the interior, which makes daily life easier.

The boy loves reading. Therefore, his room could not lack a bookcase shelf from the Stige collection for his beloved comic books, which was placed on a chest of drawers acting as a stand. The nine-year-old also needed a comfortable desk at which to do his homework. A desk 120 cm wide proved sufficient in this case. The storage space was increased by vertical boxes in which Janek can store his rucksack or school supplies.

The design of the children's room was rounded off by a relaxation area with a functional sofa with a container for bedding and toys. A wooden ladder adorned the light wall - after the installation of boxes and containers, it provided storage space. In this way, Janek can always have the comics he is currently reading close at hand. For his evening reading, there are mood lights and a Bule lamp with a built-in USB input to charge his phone or portable games console. As his mother confessed, Janek surrounds himself with a small number of objects, but likes them to have a predetermined place. The large number of handy storage compartments made it easy for the boy to keep his room tidy.

The culmination of the minimalist design is the Fina flushless door with a black handle. The simple door leaf in timeless white will work well in the room of both a small boy and a growing teenager. By using simple and tried-and-tested solutions, we were able to extend the time until the next renovation, which was particularly important for Kasia, who lives in a less waste style,' explains Natalia Całus, VOX stylist.

How to create a children's room design for free?

Arranging a child's room is an interesting challenge that will help us verify the extent to which we know our little one. It's also a good excuse to set aside a little time to spend together. All you need to do is use the VOXBOX programme, where you can conveniently match furniture and accessories, as well as door frames or flooring to a specific room.

We can experiment with the positioning of individual elements, so we can choose the best configuration even before the renovation begins. The app allows you to realise your own idea from scratch or choose one of the ready-made children's room designs and adapt it to your needs.
